Larry Thomas Awarded AWWA Honorary Membership

(June 9, 2008. Crystal Lake, IL) Larry Thomas, PE, BCEE was awarded Honorary Membership in the American Water Works Assocation (AWWA) during the organization’s Annual Conference in Atlanta. The Honorary Membership Award is presented each year to individuals whose knowledge and accomplishments in the field of water supply entitle them to special recognition.

Mr. Thomas is the Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Baxter & Woodman, Inc. Consulting Engineers, based in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He is a recognized expert in the field of water supply, treatment and source protection. He joined AWWA in 1976, and has been active both at the section and national level since 1985. Mr. Thomas held many positions at the section level, as well as serving three years as an AWWA Director representing the Illinois Section. He has demonstrated his commitment to the water industry, and has been a proponent of AWWA’s vision, values and mission, and has been instrumental in bringing these standards to the local level. Mr. Thomas is a past recipient of the organization’s prestigious George Warren Fuller Award, presented for distinguished service in the water supply field.

Locally, Mr. Thomas actively particpates in the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning committee studying water resources in the Northeastern Illinois region, and was involved in the McHenry County Groundwater Resources Management Plan, researching water resources, current water usage impacts, and future availability.
